Newport Wedding Trolley is a division of Viking Tours of Newport, one of Rhode Island’s largest tour and transportation companies. Since our beginning in 1962, Viking Tours has consistently provided our customers with the finest in reliable, quality transportation. Our extensive equipment and experience allow us to offer a broad range transportation options from wedding party and guest transportation to rehearsal dinners to touring options and corporate events.
In addition to our wedding trolleys, we also have a fleet of deluxe motorcoaches and minicoaches. They are a safe, convenient and cost effective way to transport your family and guests during your wedding celebrations. You can arrange to have them picked up at the ceremony and transported to the reception, or from the hotel to the reception, following the ceremony.
Our Wedding Trolleys and drivers are equipped with two-way radios and cell phones for safety, control and efficient communication with our dispatch center or your site coordinator. Our drivers are conscientious professionals who are dedicated to the success of your charter or tour.

* Handicapped accessible vehicles include wedding trolleys, deluxe motorcoaches and minicoaches. These vehicles meet the American with Disabilities Act guidelines with wheelchair lifts and accommodate a maximum of two wheelchairs per vehicle.

Wedding Trolley for Wedding Party Transportation
Our most popular option includes transportation via Wedding Trolley from a designated site for the wedding party. Our trolley can hold up to 30 people (much more than your traditional wedding limo). Depending upon the timing of the ceremony and the reception, the trolley is often used to bring the bride and/or bridesmaids to the ceremony. After the ceremony, the entire wedding party will board the wedding trolley and travel to a park or other location for photos, with service ending with a final drop-off at the reception site. Another option is for the trolley to pickup the groom and groomsmen at the reception site (where they’ve parked cars for use after the reception) and bring them to the ceremony location. The wedding trolley then goes to a second location for the bride and bridesmaids’ transportation to the ceremony, photos and reception.
Wedding Trolley for Guest Transportation
Many couples have guests who will be traveling to the region specifically for their wedding and are not familiar with the area. For these guests, we can operate a shuttle service from hotels to the ceremony and reception with a return to their hotels at the end of the evening. A perfect solution to make sure you get everyone “to the church on time” – and not lost along unknown streets!
Rehearsal Dinner Transportation
We can also provide unique and worry-free transportation to your rehearsal dinner for family, friends and guests not familiar with the city.

To secure your Wedding Trolley, follow these easy steps
- Call or contact our office to check availability and pricing for your special day. We are sorry, but due to the popularity of the Wedding Trolley, we cannot “hold” trolleys without a contract.
- If you would like to book a trolley our Wedding Coordinator will forward you a preliminary contract with your basic information. Upon receipt of your contract, a deposit of 20% or $200.00, whichever is greater, will be due within 2 weeks. This deposit will be applied to your whole contract price. We accept Visa, MasterCard & American Express and checks. Your deposit is fully refundable up to 90 days prior to your event date.
- Approx. two months prior to your date, you will receive a Wedding Worksheet. In the worksheet, we’ll ask that you provide directions and specific instructions to ensure your transportation runs smoothly
- The balance and a complete itinerary will be due in our office one month prior to your event.
- We’re sorry, but we cannot make changes to the itinerary less than 7 days prior to your event. Our goal is to make your wedding day transportation run smoothly and seamlessly. The seven day cut-off gives our dispatcher and drivers ample time to check your route and schedule – no last minute questions of location or routing!

How far in advance should we book our trolley?
Trolleys tend to be used extensively for weddings. Usually bookings are made 10-18 months in advance, with Saturdays and Holiday weekends in summer and fall being the first to sell out. Many couples confirm their wedding date based on trolley availability, so call or e-mail us now to see if your special date is available.
How long do we need the trolley for on our wedding day?
For wedding party transportation, most couples use the trolleys for 4-6 hours, which covers the first pick up location to the final drop off at the reception. For guest transportation, the average time is 6-8 hour, which covers transportation from hotels to church and reception venue, with final drop off after the festivities.
How many people do the trolleys accommodate?
The trolleys comfortably seat 30 guests.
Do the trolleys accommodate wheelchairs?
Some of our trolleys are wheelchair accessible and feature lifts and ties in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. These trolleys accommodate a maximum of two wheelchairs per vehicle.
Can children come aboard the trolley?
Children enjoy being on the trolley as much as adults, but like many other forms of public transportation (school buses, buses, trains, etc.), seat belts are not required in the State of Rhode Island. We ask that a parent or guardian assist the child during the transportation.
Can we decorate the trolleys for our events?
Of course! Trolleys have been decorated with nosegays, bows, balloons on the end of seats and banners of all sorts, proudly proclaiming the names of the “Just Married.” We are happy to recommend local sign companies that provide this service. Call for details and sizing.
Do you have a white wedding trolley?
No. Our trolleys are painted in shades of hunter green and red and have etched glass windows, which means the bride in her beautiful white gown will stand out and be the center of attention. The trolley provides a beautiful and elegant backdrop for photos, without taking away from the pictures of the wedding party.
Can the trolleys go on the highways?
Absolutely! Our trolleys run just like a normal passenger vehicle on streets and highways.
What if it rains on my wedding day?
The trolleys are glass-enclosed so a little “liquid sunshine” won’t spoil your ride. In addition, the trolleys are fully heated and air-conditioned, making them perfect “all-season” transportation.
Is their music onboard the trolley?
The trolleys have radios and cassette recorders and you’re invited to bring along your “special songs” or theme music to play.
Is the driver’s gratuity included?
Our drivers play an intricate part in making sure your service is spectacular. That’s why we make sure they are always professional and courteous. They carry national CDL passenger licenses and are fully insured and tested. At the request of many past brides, we include the gratuity in the total pricing. This way, it’s one less thing to worry about on the big day.
Are the trolleys available for events other than weddings?
The trolleys are popular transportation for corporate and social events such as anniversaries, family reunions, birthdays, graduations, Christmas caroling and all types of holiday parties. We employ a full time mechanic & maintenance staff to ensure that all of our vehicles are impeccably clean and well maintained. Because of our strict standards, we do not provide service for bachelor or bachelorette parties or bar hopping and “Pub Crawls.” That means our drivers are well rested & ready for your important day – and the trolleys are, too!
